YOURMEDIAISTHEFUTURE.TV is an online interactive art piece that maps out global media consumption by time and location.
Users are invited to submit screenshots of their television, computer or PDA monitors to the database which is then displayed across a world map to create an ever-chaging visual depicting trends in media viewing across the globe, throughout the different hours of the day.
The project is run in partnership with BaabaMaal.tv and we encourage users from all corners of the Earth to participate. It is our hope that this community-based project can bridge the gaps between continents and cultures as the new media revolution offers us an unprecedented opportunity for a global exchange of ideas.
ABOUT BAABA MAAL
Baaba Maal was born in the tiny village of Podor in Senegal, West Africa. Since his father was a fisherman, Baaba Maal was also expected to become a fisherman but under the influence of his life-long friend Mansour Seck, Baaba devoted himself to music and went on to study in Dakar before moving to Paris to continue his education.
Since then, Baaba Maal has recorded 7 critically-acclaimed studio albums, making him one of Africa's most prolific and internationally acclaimed musicians. Baaba is very out-spoken about social and humanitarian issues leading him to be offered a position as UNDP youth emissary in 2005. He lives between Senegal and Europe as befitting his body of work which bridges the gap between the two very different worlds and traditions.
